Offshore Survey 2019 offers packed programme

The Offshore Survey conference, alongside Ocean Business at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (10-11 April), promises an exciting programme of contemporary issues and future possibilities for the sector.

Thirty-five presentations from new technology enterprises, world-renowned academics and industry-leading professionals will address emerging and potentially transformational technologies, alongside topical issues and insightful case studies, offering a timely reality-check for the sector. 

Session themes include: autonomous and unmanned vehicles; imagery and visualization; education and competencies; data and digitalization and coastal and environment. The future industry perspectives session will consider everything from data handling and remote management of technology, through to the Nippon Foundation GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project - the international undertaking to map the world's seabed by 2030. Progress to date to will be summarised, alongside details of emerging techniques being employed and mapping campaigns in place to gather missing data. 

The use of remote sensing to monitor and map global ocean plastic waste and formulate pollution prevention algorithms will also be considered.
