Hydrographic Surveyor

ABP are recruiting for a Hydrographic Surveyor to join the team based in Barrow-in-Furness.

 

This will involve the delivery of hydrographic surveys including planning, set up, data collection, post processing, analysis, quality control and presentation as well as the operation and maintenance of a small survey vessel and associated equipment.

 

Some Accountabilities Include

Complete navigation and dredge related hydrographic surveys for North West Ports, the wider ABP group and external clients; including survey design, on site data collection, post -processing, analysis, presentation and reporting.

Complete remote sensing asset inspections including survey design, on site data collection, post -processing, analysis, presentation and reporting.

Maintain vessel and survey equipment to ensure that calibration, certification and servicing routines are completed in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.

Play an active role in contributing towards the continued advancement of Hydrography within NW Ports. Keeping up to date with technical developments and standards and assist with the implementation of new technology and working practices.

Liaise with the Marine Services Manager, and Harbour Master’s across the region and other internal/external customers to ensure that surveys are suitably scheduled, and outputs delivered to support the business needs.

Installation of hardware and software to support surveys and other vessel operations, with ongoing support including the provision of on-board training to vessel coxswains.

 

Essential

Sound technical knowledge and previous experience of single-beam and multi-beam hydrographic surveying methods and techniques.

Experience of industry standard survey hardware and software packages.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage priorities and work to challenging and sometimes changing objectives and deadlines.

Flexible approach to working hours including working tidal periods at nights and weekends.
